I may not always believe in and trust our government, but I will ALWAYS believe and trust the American Soldier.  You have taken a sacred oath to protect the many FREEDOMS that so many of us take for granted.  Please understand that I am grateful for your sacrifice(s) and your service on my behalf.  It is an honor to call you "My Countrymen".

I would like to thank all of the members of the Department of Connecticut Veterans of Foreign Wars for electing me as their Department Commander. Over the many years and many positions that I have been elected or appointed to, this is the greatest honor I have had bestowed upon me. I will serve as the Department Commander with dignity and pride.

The Veterans of Foreign Wars has to remain focused on our core mission and my theme for this year of "Helping all Veterans and Families Past, Present and Future” magnifies my intent and commitment to that mission.

We must keep the lines of communications open, from our Post thru to our National level if we are to succeed in the work we do for our Valued Veterans and their Families.

The work we do in our Communities through our Safety, Youth, Americanism and Communities Activity Programs, are additions born over the years to what we provide by visiting, entertaining and making a brighter day for those Veterans in hospitals and nursing homes all over our great state . Nothing is more rewarding than that.

So I look forward with great anticipation to my year as the State Commander of the Department of Connecticut Veterans of Foreign Wars and if anyone has any questions regarding our organization or is interested in joining the Veterans of Foreign Wars or our Auxiliary, please contact us. Thank You

May God continue to keep those guarding the gates of our freedom safe.

Robert Priest, Commander

"Dedicated to support all Veterans"

As we move into the 2016-2017 year, I want you to know what a great honor it is for me to serve as your Department Commander, and to serve all veterans and their families of our great state. our number on priority in the VFW and our Auxiliaries, is insure that all the benefits they have earned, and will earn for their service is not diminished or taken away.

Throughout the years it has become more incumbent upon us, The Veterans of Foreign Wars, to make sure that our congressmen and senators understand that they have an obligation to the brave men and women that served this great country, to provide the VA with proper funding needed to allow each and every one of them to receive the competent, compassionate medical health care that they were promised, and richly deserve.

Looking ahead, we will have even more to do in the future as the war on terrorism continues and additional troops are deployed.

I will continue, with your help, the great work that has been done in the past and continue to provide the best service possible to all of our veterans.
